Hi, I'm Desiree. I founded the Beingwith practice with one intention - to create space for the simple yet profound practice of Beingwith ourselves and others through the highs, the lows, the taboos and the mundane of life.
I cultivated this intention over an 8-year journey, starting out as a clinical psychologist in the Institute of Mental Health for the first 7 years of my career, then following my instincts into a transformative Yoga teacher training that expanded my understanding and deepened by curiosity about the journey towards consciousness and healing.
In this journey, I witnessed how much of the dis-ease we experience in our minds and bodies is created and maintained by our desperate clinging to only 'positive' situations and states of mind, and the unwillingness or inability to be with the parts of ourselves we find uncomfortable or painful - our anxiety, our grief, our anger, our shame, our desperately buried old wounds.
The longer I practised, the more I sensed the need for a space that embodies the practice of deeply beingwith what makes us vulnerable - what makes us human. In a culture that often exalts the pursuit of happiness, this is no mean feat, and nothing short of a revolution.
Using a combination of modalities, I seek to dedicate the Beingwith practice to holding space for reconnection to a well-rounded emotional experience, for making meaning of our lives, and for the pursuit of self-knowledge and personal evolution.
Beingwith is a life-long practice, and we're all in this together.
